    Morning all,

I'm currently using a Qnap 109 pro and think I have come to its end of life in terms of the usage I use and want for future use.

What I want from my next device is:
Somthing with better network transfer speeds - I'm moving files between machines over a gb lan and its starting to max @ 1mb p/sec for files of 250mb!
Quick USB transfer speeds - I'm moving data to a mixture of USB devices and this NAS seems realllly slow.
Media Streaming - have a xbox 360 and want to stream video & music to it
2 bays - possibly looking for something with 2 bays, starting to get to the 1tb capacity on the 109 now, or something that can handle 2tb discs

I also like something that quite customisable, I had a look at the netgear products and reviews say you can't really do much with them, also Synology & Thecus seem to be pretty darn good.

Anyone got any advice on which products i should take a looksie at?

    Thanks!!

Try a Windows Home Server (WHS) NAS. It's pretty much a windows PC where you can remote in and install any program you want, and it will already come w/ all the media sharing functionalities you want. I think HP has a 2 bay version of the WHS NAS for less than $200. As for speed, you just have to make sure it has gigabit ethernet w/ decent CPU and RAM.
