Unit quit working properly after about 9 months of light use. NAS can't be seen by networks at times even though it has static IP with DHCP turned off. It is picky when it wants to authenticate users to connect to folders. Direct connection via USB on computer does not even work anymore and the unit does not see the hard drive at times. Very poor quality product and I regret ever buying it. Buyer be forewarned about this product.

AVOID THIS PRODUCT. Unit failed after 8 months. Company did not respond to tech support e-mail.

Starting a couple of weeks ago, I was unable to connect to it as usual, even though the power light was on and the system LED was steady green as normal. The activity LED remained dark. Pressing the power or reboot buttons had no effect. I disconnected and reconnected power. The blue power light flickered several times and went dark, and pressing the power button had no effect.

I disconnected the unit from my computer in order to put it on my desk to remove the case. I noticed the power supply was very hot to the touch. I removed the case and disconnected one of the hard drives, and was able to get the unit to boot (and recover my data).

I tried replacing both hard drives. With both new drives connected, it would not boot, but it would boot with one drive connected, regardless of which power or data connector was used. After leaving it off overnight, I tried connecting both hard drives again. This time it booted and I was able to format the drives.

Since then, it's been able to boot about 50% of the time. When I connect power, if the blue power light flickers for a few seconds before going out, it fails to boot. If the light pulses once and then goes out, it seems to boot normally.

Issues. Needs firmware update or something.
